About Dean Insurance
What is Dean Insurance?
Dean Insurance is an independent insurance comparison and referral marketplace. We help you compare coverage and connect you with licensed insurance agents and carriers who are authorized to sell in your state. We make shopping for insurance simpler — all in one place, for free.
Is Dean Insurance an insurance company or agency?
No. We are not an insurance company, and not a licensed agency or producer. We don’t sell, underwrite, or issue policies, and we don’t make coverage decisions. We connect you with licensed agents and carriers who do. Any policy you buy is a contract between you and the issuing carrier. See our Licensing & Legal page for details.
Is it really free to use?
Yes — using Dean Insurance is 100% free, with no fees and no obligation. You only ever pay for insurance if you choose to buy a policy from a carrier, at that carrier’s price.
How does Dean Insurance make money?
We’re compensated by our partners — through referral or marketing fees — when we connect you with them or when you obtain coverage. That’s how we offer our service for free. We don’t feature every company in the market, and compensation may influence which partners we show. See our Advertising Disclosure.
How It Works
How does the quote process work?
You answer a few quick questions about what you want to insure. We then match you with licensed agents and carriers suited to your needs, who provide quotes and help you choose. It takes about two minutes to get started.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. There’s no obligation to purchase. You can compare your options, take your time, and decide what’s right for you — and you’re always free to shop elsewhere, including directly with insurers.
Will I be contacted after I request a quote?
Yes. When you submit a request, you agree to be contacted by Dean Insurance and our partners — by phone, text, and email, including with automated technology — so licensed agents can provide quotes. You can opt out at any time (reply STOP to texts, unsubscribe from emails, or contact us). See our TCPA Consent & Disclosures.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required to compare coverage or request a quote. You simply provide the information needed to match you with the right licensed agents and carriers.
What You Can Compare
What types of insurance can I compare?
A wide range. Personal: auto, home, renters, life, disability, travel, and specialty. Health: health, dental, vision, and Medicare. Business: see below.
Can I compare business insurance?
Yes. We cover commercial lines including general liability, workers’ compensation, commercial auto, business owner’s policy, commercial property, professional liability (E&O), and cyber liability. Start at our Business Insurance hub.
Do you offer Medicare plans?
We help you compare Medicare options — Medicare Advantage, Medigap, and Part D — with licensed agents to guide you. Please note: we do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options. See our Medicare page.
Are you licensed to sell insurance?
We operate as a referral marketplace and are not acting as a licensed producer — the agents and carriers we connect you with hold the licenses required to sell insurance in your state. You can verify any agent or carrier through your state department of insurance. See Licensing & Legal.
Your Privacy & Communications
Is my personal information safe?
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method is completely secure, but we take protecting your data seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect it.
Will you sell or share my information?
To provide our service, we share the information you submit with licensed agents, carriers, and marketing partners so they can contact you with quotes. Under California and similar laws, this may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” — and you can opt out. See our Privacy Policy and Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
How do I stop calls, texts, and emails?
You can opt out anytime: reply STOP to any text, use the unsubscribe link in any email, ask a caller to add you to their do-not-call list, or contact us. Details are in our TCPA Consent & Disclosures.
How do I exercise my privacy rights?
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the sale/sharing of your information. Submit a request through our Do Not Sell or Share page, or see the Privacy Policy for how to exercise all of your rights, including by state.
Quotes & Pricing
Are the prices shown on your site guaranteed?
No. Any rates or cost figures on the Site are illustrative averages, not quotes, and are provided for general information. They may not reflect what’s actually available to you. Your real rate is determined by the carrier.
Why is my actual quote different from the rates shown here?
Because the figures on our pages are general estimates, while a real quote is priced to your specific situation — things like your location, history, coverage choices, and the carrier’s underwriting. That’s exactly why comparing real quotes is worthwhile.
Does getting a quote affect my credit score?
Generally, no. Requesting an insurance quote typically uses a “soft” inquiry that doesn’t affect your credit score, unlike the “hard” inquiry from a loan application. Practices can vary by carrier and product, so check with the carrier if you’re unsure.
What if I have a problem with an agent or carrier?
Because agents and carriers are independent of us, contact them directly first. You can also reach your state department of insurance — found through the NAIC at naic.org — which licenses and oversees agents and carriers and assists consumers. See Licensing & Legal.
Still have questions?
We’re happy to help. Reach us at [CONTACT EMAIL] or [CONTACT PHONE]. For the full details on how we operate and handle your data, see our Licensing & Legal, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Advertising Disclosure.
