Long Term Care Insurance
Long Term Care Insurance is designed to cover costs for necessary care if you are chronically ill or disabled and unable to care for yourself. Long Term Care insurance policies may be written to help cover the cost of home health care, nursing home costs and the cost of care in an assisted living setting.
Assisted living care may include meals, assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and eating or medical monitoring. Long Term Care Insurance Policies also typically provide these services as well as a visiting nurse in your home if you do not require the higher level of care available in a facility.
It is important to realize that most health insurance policies and Medicare do not pay for Long Term Care.
Medicaid will only pay for Long Term Care after you have depleted your assets and then you are limited as to which facilities you may use. |
